UHF In-Building Coverage provided by Fiber-Span at Lansing Community College, West Campus
May 6, 2009
An indoor RF Bi-Directional amplifier system has been successfully implemented at Lansing Community College, West Campus in Michigan. The West Campus of Lansing Community College is located in Delta Township, Eaton County, approximately 7 miles west of downtown Lansing. The existing repeater system did not provide usable two-way coverage needed therefore Fiber-Span and Crouch Communications were contracted to solve the lack of coverage throughout the West Campus facility.
The Lansing Community College Police Department switched to the Ingham County UHF M/A-COM trunked (EDACS) in June 2006 and needed to have useable two-way communications inside the 280,000 square feet West Campus building. The Engineering experts at Fiber-Span designed the In-building System solution that included bi-directional amplifiers and an indoor Distributed Antenna System (DAS) to interface with the EDACS system and provide the desired coverage. Both 450 MHz and 460 MHz frequency coverage were accomplished through the use of a filter combiner unit provided by Fiber-Span. The system is currently active and the Campus Police are very pleased with the extended coverage into the West Campus building. Fiber-Span, RF on Fiber® experts for over 15 years, is the world leading manufacturer of RF on Fiber communications network products for in-building, in-tunnel, and outdoor coverage extension systems.
